Cody Rhodes Reveals He Never Met Roman Reigns on Street Fighter Set

Former WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes recently spoke with Mostly Sports With Mark Titus and Brandon Walker about his role as Guile in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. Despite Roman Reigns, another WWE Superstar and his well-known rival, playing Akuma in the same film, Rhodes revealed they never actually crossed paths during filming. The conversation took place ahead of the WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 event, generating curiosity about their off-screen dynamics.

Unexpected Separation Between Co-Stars on Set

When asked by Brandon Walker which of the two wrestlers was the better actor, Rhodes responded with surprise about their on-set experience.

You know what’s so funny? We never cross paths on set.

He further expressed uncertainty about comparing performances, adding,

I will not. I won’t know.

These remarks underline how separate their roles and filming schedules remained during production.

Observations on Stunt Training and Movie Preparation

Rhodes shared insight into the rigorous training the cast underwent, highlighting Roman Reigns’ impressive stunt work. He explained,

I think he did a phenomenal job. I saw he was doing his stunt training cuz they were training us as if we were going into a real fight. 50 Cent was boxing every morning. He’s doing Balrog. Andrew Schultz, poor thing, was basically just learning how to fall cuz Dan [Hibkiki] gets punched a lot, and I was watching that.

This glimpse behind the scenes reveals how seriously the actors approached their fight scenes and character roles.

Anticipation for the Film’s Release and Cast Highlights

Expressing enthusiasm for the project, Rhodes expressed confidence in the final product, stating,

They’ve done something special with that movie. I’m so excited for people to see it.

The film also features NJPW star Hirooki Goto as E. Honda and is a Legendary Pictures production in partnership with Capcom. Paramount Pictures plans to release the movie on October 16th, 2026, setting high expectations among fans of both the game and wrestling communities.
