Festive Face Off San Francisco Fire Stations Compete for Best Holiday Decorations

Festive Face Off San Francisco Fire Stations: San Francisco firefighters engaged in a festive competition, vying for the coveted title of the city’s best decorated fire station. This tradition, dating back to the 1940s, has recently been revived by the department.

Judges had the task of touring 11 fire stations, each transformed into a winter wonderland by creative and enthusiastic teams. At Station 39 in West Portal, Captain Mike Day showcased an extravagant display featuring a snow machine, candy canes, and a fire station snowman.

“I’m looking for a little bit of everything which they seem to have. They have snow. They have candy canes. They have a gingerbread house,” remarked one judge.

In Cole Valley, Station 12 dazzled the neighborhood with an equally elaborate decoration, including a snow machine on the roof. Firefighter Antonio Custodio, ensuring Santa’s snowy arrival, slid down the fire pole after inspecting the festive setup.

Over in the Sunset at Station 18, the 70s vibe was alive with a disco ball illuminating the firehouse.

“We just try to come up with stuff along the way, and hopefully try and make it better each year,” shared firefighter Justin Chadwick.

The winner of this spirited competition is yet to be announced. The top-performing firehouses will have the opportunity to donate their prize money to a charity of their choice.
