Heath Slater, a former WWE competitor, has shared his openness to rejoin WWE to team up with Drew McIntyre, reigniting memories of their past association. Slater, who began his WWE career in 2006 and was released in 2020, maintains that he still has the physical capability to perform at a high level, which could lead to a possible return.
Slater and McIntyre’s history includes their time together in the 3MB faction, a storyline that highlighted both camaraderie and rivalry. This relationship remains a significant narrative in Slater’s career, underscoring why a renewed alliance would be meaningful for both performers.
Slater Confident in His Physical Condition Despite Age
In a recent interview on the Developmentally Speaking podcast, Heath Slater discussed his current physical state and his continued ability to compete effectively in the ring. At 42 years old, he compared himself to other veteran wrestlers nearing 50, emphasizing his belief that he still possesses several strong years in professional wrestling.
“I am 42. I am looking at some of these other dudes, they’re like 50 right now and I am like dang, 50? (…) But I can honestly say in my career of wrestling right now, I have a handful of good years left. Like when I say good years, I mean like getting in the ring and like making people believe, you know? I don’t wanna be that guy that gets in the ring and people do this [gestures pity]. That’s not nice… I know for a fact that I can still go. Because I have been wrestling these damn young 20-something year olds and they’re not blowing me up yet.”
Slater’s remarks reveal his determination to perform credibly and avoid being perceived merely as an aged performer past his prime. His experience working against younger wrestlers has reinforced his confidence in staying competitive.
Interest in A WWE Comeback and Role Beyond Wrestling
Slater has indicated that if WWE extends an invitation, especially to collaborate with Drew McIntyre again, he would eagerly accept. This enthusiasm stems not only from a desire to return to in-ring competition but also from interest in taking on roles outside of wrestling in the future.

“It’s like, if WWE ever called and was like, ‘Hey man, Drew [McIntyre] needs some help. We need to bring the band back together.’ I will be like h*ll yeah baby, sign me for about a year or two. I would follow it up like, yeah but after that could I be an agent or a trainer or something? You know, maybe help some of these kids out. But yeah I would totally follow up with that.”
He envisions a pathway where, following a potential return, he could transition into a support role such as a trainer or agent, allowing him to mentor younger talent and contribute to WWE’s future beyond active competition.
Potential Impact of Slater’s Return on WWE’s Landscape
Heath Slater’s possible return to WWE alongside Drew McIntyre would resonate with fans familiar with their earlier partnership, potentially enhancing storylines with a mix of nostalgia and fresh energy. His readiness to wrestle at a capable level and openness to a backstage role reflects his dedication to the industry despite previous setbacks. While no formal announcement has been made regarding his re-signing, his comments suggest a strong interest in resuming his wrestling career in some capacity.
If WWE pursues this reunion, it could generate renewed excitement around Slater’s character and provide valuable mentorship for emerging wrestlers, strengthening the promotion’s roster overall. Observers will likely watch closely to see whether WWE responds to Slater’s expressed desires in the near future.
