In 2010, Seth Rollins came very close to signing with TNA Wrestling before ultimately securing a spot with WWE, fulfilling his lifelong dream. Speaking on Club Shay Shay, Rollins revealed he had a deal on the table with TNA but was holding out for a response from WWE, where he truly wanted to be.
Waiting on WWE’s Decision
Rollins explained that he had been trying to get noticed by different wrestling companies, but WWE wasn’t returning any of his calls or emails. As time passed, he made one last effort and told the talent relations team at WWE that he would sign with TNA if he didn’t hear back soon. It was a tense Sunday night before making his decision the next morning.
The Unexpected Call that Changed Everything
Just fifteen minutes after his warning call, Rollins received a call back from WWE’s talent relations representative, who promised to speak with his superiors and get back to him. Despite the uncertainty, Rollins stayed up all night, anxious but hopeful. When WWE finally called back with an offer, Rollins knew immediately this was the opportunity he had been waiting for, regardless of the money involved.
The Value of Opportunity Over Money
Rollins reflected on how he turned down offers that were reportedly three times more lucrative because WWE represented the biggest wrestling company in the world and the best chance to make his mark.
“I probably turned down at least triple the money to go somewhere else. But I knew this was where I could make my way,”
he said.
For Seth Rollins, the WWE opportunity wasn’t just about a contract — it was the realization of a lifelong ambition despite the long, anxious wait and the uncertainty of being ignored initially by one of the world’s largest wrestling promotions. This pivotal moment shaped his career and ultimately cemented his place in professional wrestling history.
