Jacob Fatu recently discussed his development in cutting promos and how WWE has started giving him more freedom to express himself on television during an appearance on the Cheap Heat with Peter Rosenberg podcast. He highlighted the support from WWE figures, especially Triple H and Solo Sikoa, as key factors in his progress.
Early Challenges with Promos and Finding His Voice
Fatu admitted that cutting promos was once his biggest weakness, particularly during his time on the independent circuit where he often relied on cursing but didn’t feel comfortable truly speaking in interviews or promos. He reflected on his initial hesitation, saying he focused more on playing his role and avoided overshadowing others.
“I just grew up to play my position, play my role, and do my thing. I never try to overstep on anybody or nothing. Talking was my weakest point. On the indies, we get away with cussing. I wasn’t comfortable in talking. Not at all.”

WWE’s Support in Letting Fatu Be Authentic
Fatu revealed that WWE gradually allowed him more opportunities to speak on TV, starting with small segments. He credited Tama Tonga for encouraging him to simply “be yourself” and use his own slang, emphasizing that no one else speaks like he does. He also praised Triple H for his behind-the-scenes support. Additionally, Solo Sikoa has played a significant role in guiding Fatu through promo work, assisting him in developing his unique voice.
“Then, they started letting me speak. I remember Tama [Tonga] telling me, ‘Just talk like yourself. Be yourself. Some of the stuff you’re saying, ain’t nobody saying your slang.’ Shout-out to Triple H. It started off small with a couple of lines here. Solo [Sikoa] has actually been a big help on my promos. Everything you see me and Solo doing, he’s been more than helpful.”
