On the July 7 episode of WWE RAW, Karrion Kross shocked viewers and his wife, Scarlett, with an unexpected on-screen kiss after a heated moment during his match against Bron Breakker. Known for his usual stance against public displays of affection, Kross later confirmed the kiss was an unscripted moment, highlighting his and Scarlett’s typical avoidance of such gestures in wrestling.
The Unexpected Kiss During WWE RAW
Karrion Kross set the tone for the night by aggressively confronting former rival Sami Zayn with a steel rod as Zayn entered for a match. Later, Kross delivered an intense promo vowing to repeat such confrontations whenever Zayn appeared on RAW. At the end of the segment, Kross surprised everyone by spontaneously kissing Scarlett, a move that was not written into the script but delighted many fans.
In an interview with Steve Fall on The Ten Count podcast, Kross discussed the spontaneous nature of the kiss, explaining that he and Scarlett frequently joke and prank each other, although this particular instance was more obvious to the audience.
Her and I play ribs on each other all the time, that one was just more obvious than the other ones that we’ve done, that we’ve done live. But yeah, her and I have always worked improvisationally off of each other when there’s not a script in front of us,
Kross said.
There’s an element of improv [with anything you see on the show]. There’s improv in the ring, there’s improv on the mic and what you saw was what happened. It was all for the sake of people enjoying entertaining people.

Reasons Behind Their Distance from Public Displays of Affection
Kross revealed that both he and Scarlett have deliberately avoided showing much affection in public wrestling settings. He explained that, as wrestling fans themselves, they recognize that such gestures rarely receive positive reactions from the audience and often feel out of place on the show.
She and I are not big on PDA [public displays of affection] in general. Especially too, her and I being wrestling fans. Neither of us ever tuned in to wrestling to watch people making out, it’s kind of obnoxious, which is why we’ve stayed away from kissing on camera. Like, ‘Get over yourselves, you guys are in a relationship! Do it somewhere else.’ But in that moment, it felt different. And then I was even laughing too, [because] I was surprised that got cheered. [laughs] Why do you cheer that? Because normally, if you were to see other couples in the past [like] Edge and Lita, no one was cheering that. Snitsky and Kelly Kelly, no one [is cheering that], you know what I mean? It was interesting and funny and yes, very improvisational.

Kross pointed out that unlike previous wrestling couples such as Edge and Lita or Snitsky and Kelly Kelly, whose on-screen affection often went unnoticed or unappreciated by fans, their spontaneous kiss received an unexpected positive reaction. This contrast highlights how audience responses to romantic gestures in wrestling can vary widely depending on context and performers.
The Purpose and Impact of Improv in Wrestling Performances
Improvisation plays a key role in Kross and Scarlett’s dynamic, both off-script and during live events. Kross emphasized that much of what fans see involves spontaneous moments designed to entertain rather than follow strict scripting. The willingness to improvise adds authenticity and unpredictability to their performances, which can resonate strongly with viewers.
This unscripted kiss is a rare moment for the couple, reflecting their ability to blend personal rapport with professional entertainment, while respecting the norms of wrestling storytelling. Fans may now be more interested in watching how this balance continues to evolve in future WWE appearances by Karrion Kross and Scarlett.
