During February, Diva Dirt is dedicating each day to celebrating a Black woman wrestler, shining a light on both past legends and current stars without ranking them in any particular order. This initiative emphasizes the importance of representation for marginalized communities and aims to give these talented athletes the recognition they deserve.
Recognizing Influential Black Women in Wrestling
Notable figures featured before include Jacqueline, Lash Legend, Nyla Rose, Sharmell, Awesome Kong, and Alicia Fox. On February 5, the focus turns to Kelani Jordan, a rising star making waves in WWE’s NXT brand.
Kelani Jordan: A Promising WWE Homegrown Talent
Kelani Jordan has drawn attention as the future face of Black women’s wrestling, inspired by Bianca Belair. Since debuting with WWE in 2022, her gymnastics background has contributed to a dynamic in-ring style that quickly made her a fan favorite. Her athleticism and charisma have set her apart as a standout talent in the company.
Major Achievements Demonstrating Jordan’s Impact
Jordan’s career highlights include becoming the first-ever NXT Women’s North American Champion, a historic achievement given the rarity of Black women earning inaugural titles in the industry. Additionally, she is one of only two NXT wrestlers to hold the TNA Knockouts World Title. The only other Black woman to hold an inaugural championship in WWE is Sasha Banks, who was part of the first modern WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
Anticipating Jordan’s Rise to WWE’s Main Roster
With her growing acclaim and impressive credentials, it seems inevitable that Kelani Jordan will soon transition to WWE’s main roster. Her journey illustrates both progress and the breaking of barriers for Black women in professional wrestling, underscoring her significance as a role model and trailblazer in the sport.
“You want to see the future of Black women achieving in wrestling? Look no further than Kelani Jordan.” – Bianca Belair, WWE Superstar
