Mercedes Moné’s wrestling career has taken a sharp downturn following her recent defeat at the CMLL La Noche de la Amazonas event. On March 6th, inside the iconic Arena Mexico, Moné lost the CMLL Women’s World Championship to her longtime competitor Persephone, marking another significant title loss after her return to major wrestling promotions.
After gaining widespread recognition in All Elite Wrestling (AEW) since her arrival in 2024, Moné earned the nickname “Belt Collector” for holding numerous championships simultaneously. At one point, she boasted an impressive total of 13 championship belts across various organizations, showcasing her dominance in the sport.
Despite this considerable track record, Moné’s fortunes have reversed recently as she continues to drop title matches. The loss to Persephone reduces her current championship count to eight belts, a sharp decline compared to her earlier standing. This marks the first time fans have witnessed the once invincible wrestler in such a vulnerable and struggling phase since her AEW debut.
Current Hiatus from All Elite Wrestling Follows Lengthy Championship Reign
Moné initially established herself as one of AEW’s top female stars by defeating Willow Nightingale to win the TBS Championship at the Double or Nothing event in 2024. She dominated that division, holding the prestigious belt for over 500 days, surpassing the previous record set by Jade Cargill.
Her reign eventually ended on the last night of 2025 when she lost the TBS title back to Willow Nightingale during the New Year‘s Smash episode of AEW Dynamite. Following this high-profile defeat, Moné revealed through a video message on Dynamite that she would be taking a break from active competition within AEW, leaving fans uncertain about her return timeline.
As Mercedes Moné remains absent from AEW, questions loom about her next moves and how she will rebuild her position after the recent setbacks in her career.
