Rhea Ripley’s Poison Mist Scene Sparks WWE Storyline Doubts

Published:

During the latest WWE RAW episode, the storyline involving Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY’s encounter with the poison mist raised questions about its believability. This ongoing narrative unfolds amid their rivalry with The Kabuki Warriors, with key moments airing in Perth, Australia ahead of Crown Jewel.

Confusion Surrounds the Poison Mist Angle

This week on RAW, Rhea Ripley attempted to warn IYO SKY that their situation had changed irreversibly. She emphasized that The Kabuki Warriors had fully embraced the dark side, and that SKY could no longer return to her former allies. Before Ripley could finish, Asuka and Kairi Sane interrupted and attacked, with the Empress of Tomorrow spraying IYO SKY directly in the eye with poison mist. SKY showed clear discomfort from the mist throughout the show, reinforcing its supposed danger.

Criticism From Former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo

On the latest episode of Legion of RAW, Vince Russo expressed frustration with the creative direction of the storyline. He pointed out a glaring inconsistency: although Rhea Ripley was shown taking the poison mist last week, she appeared unaffected on this week’s RAW, with no visible signs of injury. Russo argued that this contradiction undermines the credibility of the mist as a serious plot device, especially contrasted with IYO SKY’s visible struggle.

“Here’s how clueless they are. So, she takes the poison mist. And they’re putting over the poison mist. Well, Rhea Ripley took the poison mist last week, and she seems to be totally fine. You said that. You said last week that she’s gonna take the mist, she’s gonna sell it like that, and she’s gonna come back next week perfectly fine, no eye patch, no reddening of the eye. So, it’s got zero effects on Rhea Ripley. But now we’re supposed to believe again it’s a poisonous risk, and IYO SKY can’t see for the next two-and-a-half hours,” he said.

Setting Up a Major Tag Team Clash at Crown Jewel

Despite the storyline’s confusion, WWE continued to build tension with the poison mist angle throughout the RAW episode. IYO SKY’s visible distress from the mist reinforced the stakes, setting the stage for an anticipated tag team showdown between Ripley and SKY versus The Kabuki Warriors at the Crown Jewel event in Perth, Australia.

This rivalry has gained momentum in recent weeks, with both teams escalating their hostilities. The unresolved questions about the mist’s effects may impact fan perception of the storyline’s seriousness, though WWE appears committed to pushing the feud forward. How the creative team will address these inconsistencies remains to be seen as the event approaches.
