San Jose Drive Thru Light Show: History Park in San Jose has transformed into a winter wonderland with the opening of Christmas in the Park’s Drive-Thru Light Show. Drivers can tune their radios to 93.5 and be serenaded by synchronized songs accompanying over 200,000 twinkling lights.
Debbie Degutis, the Managing Director for Christmas in the Park, expressed her joy in bringing people together for this festive experience. The drive-thru concept, born during the 2020 pandemic, has evolved into the organization’s major annual fundraiser.
A nonprofit venture, Christmas in the Park relies on ticket sales for the drive-thru to maintain free access to the downtown park. Priced at $30-35, families find the holiday adventure worthwhile, enjoying the convenience of staying warm in their cars while marveling at the luminous displays.
Katrina Romero, accompanied by her family, praised the coziness of the experience, especially with young children. The event has historically drawn an average of 2,000 vehicles per night, and the 1.5-mile-long light show took a dedicated crew approximately 20 days to assemble.
Accessible to individuals of all ages and abilities, the drive-thru offers a comfortable way to enjoy the holiday spirit. Christyn Booth from Sunnyvale, dealing with a recent back injury, appreciated the accessibility of the event, allowing her to participate without physical strain.
Christmas in the Park Drive-Thru will enchant visitors until January 1. Organizers encourage families to bring their dogs, indulge in warm hot chocolate, and forge cherished holiday memories together.
