The revised proposal includes 451 townhome condominium units, 399 apartments, and 90 condominiums, with around 20% of the residential units designated for lower-income households.
Flea market vendors were concerned about being displaced without compensation, but the proposal aims to honor previous commitments, offering financial support, a public market space, and advance notification of closure. The development will also enhance the Berryessa BART Station area with retail, housing, a 5-acre urban plaza, a neighborhood park, and creek trails.
The change in direction is attributed to the evolving workplace dynamics. The original tech campus plans failed to attract interest, even after extensive marketing efforts. With the current state of the office market, housing is now seen as a more viable endeavor. This shift in focus reflects the changing times and the need for adaptive urban development.
