Stephanie Vaquer Opens Up on WWE English Promo Struggles

Published:

Stephanie Vaquer, originally from San Fernando, Chile, has embraced learning English since joining WWE in 2024, but her transition has come with notable difficulties. Known primarily for speaking Spanish, Vaquer has found cutting promos in English on WWE television to be a complex task, highlighting the challenge of adapting to a new language on such a public platform.

Vaquer Discusses the Difficulty in Translating Her Thoughts

In a conversation with Chris Van Vliet, Stephanie Vaquer shared how her thought process affects her performance. She said,

“It’s hard because, for me, I think in Spanish [and then I translate it]. I don’t want people to say ‘Why does she speak so slow?’ Because I try to translate everything and sometimes it’s not the same. Spanish maybe makes sense, but in English it’s like ‘What?’ So it’s hard, it’s difficult. But I hope one day. I just need more time and learn more.”

This illustrates the mental effort she puts into bridging language gaps while performing live.

Support and Determination in Overcoming Language Barriers

Vaquer also emphasized the encouragement she receives from those around her.

“It’s really nice because everybody always helps me a lot, Everybody always help me a lot with that. But yeah, sometime I feel like, oh, I know I can do that in Spanish really well. Now in English it’s like I can’t, but it’s good. I love challenges. I love the new things and learning new things. So for me sometimes it’s like oh I want to say this in Spanish, but it’s really nice. Learning new things for me is exciting,”

she added. This support fuels her passion and eagerness to improve.

Continued Efforts and Upcoming WWE Match

Although Stephanie Vaquer acknowledges that her English is not yet fluent, she remains committed to practicing daily and attending weekly classes to enhance her skills. Her progress is crucial as she prepares to compete against IYO SKY for the vacant WWE Women’s World Championship at the upcoming WWE Wrestlepalooza event. This match will be a significant milestone in her career, underscoring the importance of her ongoing English development.

Implications for Vaquer’s WWE Career

Vaquer’s journey speaks to the broader challenges faced by non-native English speakers in the wrestling industry, where verbal promos play a vital role in character development and audience connection. Improving her English promotional skills will likely expand her opportunities and help her resonate with a global WWE audience, potentially elevating her status within the company and the professional wrestling world.
