Swerve Strickland, former AEW World Champion, might be facing a break from All Elite Wrestling due to injury problems. The focus centers on a knee issue that has raised concerns about his ability to compete in upcoming events, including his scheduled AEW Unified Title match.
Details on Strickland’s Knee Injury and Medical Support
During the August 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, medical officials examined Strickland regarding his knee condition. Reports indicate the storyline reflects reality, as Strickland has been managing a torn meniscus. The injury originally occurred in 2019 while training at the WWE Performance Center, with Strickland initially opting for a short rest without surgery.
Currently, a medical team from the Jacksonville Jaguars is assisting him in recovery efforts. Despite this support, there remains a possibility that Strickland may require surgery and an extended time away from wrestling to heal properly.
Impact on Scheduled AEW Matches and Future Plans
Strickland is slated to face Kazuchika Okada for the AEW Unified Title at the Forbidden Door event on August 24. However, his participation was not guaranteed, as he was initially expected to take a break following All In Texas in July, which did not happen. Previously, Strickland had missed part of AEW television due to an eardrum injury earlier in 2025.
