On March 10, World Tag Team Champions Jimmy and Jey Uso publicly challenged World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk during WWE Raw, insisting he apologize for remarks made about their uncle Sika. The confrontation took place in the final segment of Monday’s show, escalating tensions ahead of their upcoming match at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas.
During the previous week’s Raw, Punk had made pointed comments regarding Roman Reigns, who is the Usos’ cousin and Punk’s scheduled opponent for the championship bout. Punk stated his intention to “bury” Reigns near the grave of his late father, Sika, a Hall of Fame wrestler and one half of the legendary Wild Samoans tag team alongside his brother Afa.
Details of the Remarks That Sparked the Conflict
Although Punk expressed respect for Sika and acknowledged Afa’s previous support early in his career, he made clear his disdain for Reigns. Punk claimed that Sika would recognize
“what a lying, backstabbing, manipulative, gaslighting, egoistical, narcissistic, plastic, politician his son Roman Reigns is.”
These words struck a nerve with the Usos, leading to their demand for an apology during the live segment.
Jey Uso confronted Punk, shouting,
“I need you to say I’m sorry!”
as he stared him down. Punk responded with a reluctant apology, but instead of directly addressing the insult, he accused Reigns of mistreating their family publicly for years.
Punk added,
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry Roman Reigns treated the two of you and the rest of his family in the bloodline like garbage for years and never once came out here publicly to apologize,”
emphasizing that Reigns had not faced consequences for recent comments about the late Dusty Rhodes.
Physical Altercation Ends the Segment
The heated exchange escalated quickly when Jey Uso pushed Punk, prompting Jimmy Uso to throw a punch that brought Punk to the mat. With tensions high, the Usos exited the ring, ending Raw’s final moments on this physical note.
This confrontation adds intensity to the upcoming championship match between Punk and Reigns, scheduled for WrestleMania 42’s two-night event on April 18 and 19 in Las Vegas.
