Toni Storm Opens Up on WWE’s Blake Monroe After Rivalry

Published:

AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm recently expressed her opinions on WWE’s Blake Monroe, formerly known as Mariah May, following their intense rivalry. The comments came during an appearance on the Ariel Helwani Show, where Storm reflected on their past and Monroe’s transition to WWE’s NXT brand.

Background of the Rivalry and Transition to WWE

Toni Storm and Mariah May’s rivalry culminated at AEW Revolution in Los Angeles this March, where Storm successfully defended her AEW Women’s World Championship in the ‘Hollywood Ending’ match. This was Mariah May’s final AEW appearance before her contract expired, after which she signed with WWE and rebranded herself as Blake Monroe on the NXT roster.

Storm’s Candid Thoughts on Monroe

During the interview, Toni Storm described her complicated history with Mariah May, now Blake Monroe, in harsh terms. She said,

“We’ve all had relationships like Mariah haven’t we, that end in broken glass, fist fights, bloody kisses. What can I say about Mariah? She’s the single most evil, cold-hearted bitch I’ve ever met in my life. I can honestly say that. And I’m glad that I’ve banished her. I really did compromise her to a permament end.”

Despite the bitterness, Storm also admitted admiration for Monroe’s current persona, saying,

“But I’m a big fan of that Blake Monroe.”

Regarding Monroe’s work in NXT, Storm commented,

“I’ve seen a bit but I don’t study it religiously.”

Upcoming Women’s World Championship Defense at All Out

Looking ahead, Toni Storm is preparing to defend her AEW Women’s World Championship in a highly anticipated four-way match at the upcoming All Out event. Her challengers include Kris Statlander, Jamie Hayter, and Thekla, all of whom have shown impressive performances within AEW’s women’s division.

The Importance of the Rivalry and Future Prospects

This rivalry between Toni Storm and Blake Monroe highlights the dynamic shifts between AEW and WWE women’s divisions, illustrating how wrestlers evolve and find new paths when switching brands. Storm’s reflections reveal personal and professional layers behind these wrestling storylines and shed light on Monroe’s growing presence in NXT. Fans can expect continued developments as Storm defends her championship and Monroe establishes herself further in WWE’s womens roster.
