All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is exploring the possibility of scheduling more pay-per-view events at earlier start times in the future. Tony Khan, AEW’s president, indicated that the success of recent afternoon Eastern Time PPVs has influenced this consideration, especially due to the convenience it offers fans abroad, such as those in the United Kingdom. This evolving strategy reflects AEW’s efforts to accommodate a wider international audience while enhancing the event experience.
Positive Impact of Afternoon Start Times on UK Audience Engagement
The last three major AEW pay-per-views—All In, Forbidden Door, and All Out—have all kicked off in the afternoon Eastern Time zone. At the All Out post-event press conference, Khan addressed a question about making early start times a permanent feature, citing the positive reception from UK viewers and strong related metrics. These events have delivered impressive buy rates and television ratings overseas.
“It’s been tremendous for three straight pay-per-views. I think the point you’re making is definitely something I take into consideration.”

“And we’ve had great results, great buys from the UK, the TV ratings in the UK are through the roof,”
Khan added.
“And I’m really glad you asked that because that’s absolutely one of the considerations we’ve thought about here. And whether it’s Saturday or Sunday, it’s definitely giving me something to think about.”
The Strategy Behind the Early Match Placement at All Out
Earlier in the press conference, Khan was questioned about the choice to open All Out with a significant match featuring FTR against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage. He explained that positioning this high-profile bout at the 3 p.m. Eastern start time helped build urgency for the event and served as a focal point for fans tuning in early.
“I thought it was a great way to start the show. I also thought when you’re doing something special with a start time of 3:00 PM Eastern, noon Pacific, having a milestone and a match that you can set the time and say, look, that’s when this is going on. I think it created an urgency around the pay-per-view to put such an important historic match in that prominent position, if that makes sense.”

Looking Ahead: Potential Changes to AEW Pay-Per-View Schedules
Tony Khan’s remarks signal a thoughtful approach as AEW continues to balance fan accessibility, international viewership, and event impact. While no definitive decisions have been announced, the positive outcomes from recent PPVs suggest AEW may embrace earlier start times more regularly. This adjustment could influence how future AEW pay-per-views are structured, expanding engagement across global markets.
