Tony Khan praises MJF performance following the wrestler’s remarkable schedule last weekend. MJF competed in two high-profile matches on consecutive days, showcasing his dedication and skill in separate locations. On Friday, he wrestled against Mistico at CMLL’s Aniversario supershow held at Arena Mexico in Mexico City. Less than 24 hours later, MJF appeared in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for his AEW All Out match facing Mark Briscoe.
Khan Commends MJF’s Commitment and In-Ring Ability
Although MJF lost both matches, Khan expressed deep admiration for the young star’s work ethic and how he represented AEW across international stages. Khan highlighted the extraordinary nature of competing twice in two different countries within such a short span. He emphasized MJF’s status as a significant figure in AEW and lauded the quality of both contests. Khan told The Sportster,
“I think MJF is a huge star. He’s a huge part of AEW. He’s a great wrestler. I have a lot of respect for what he did to have two amazing matches in two different countries.”
Khan continued,
“Incredibly, to go from Mexico, be in Arena Mexico in Mexico City and then to go to Toronto, and in less than 24 hours to have two amazing matches, wrestling Mistico for the CMLL World title and then wrestling Mark Briscoe in this Tables n’ Tacks match at AEW All Out. It’s amazing.”
MJF’s Recent Title Matches and Future Prospects
Prior to the Aniversario event, MJF held the CMLL World Light Heavyweight Championship but lost it to Mistico in a mask versus title match. Within AEW, MJF currently holds a contract granting him a future shot at the AEW World Championship. He recently challenged Hangman Page for the title at Forbidden Door 2025, though that match was scheduled without using the contract. When MJF decides to cash in his contract, he must provide at least one week’s notice before the match.
The Importance of MJF’s Dual Representation for AEW
MJF’s ability to perform at a high level in two challenging matches across different countries demonstrates both his dedication and versatility as a wrestler. Tony Khan’s public praise underscores the organization’s belief in MJF as an essential talent and rising star. This dual effort not only highlights MJF’s resilience but also strengthens AEW’s presence internationally, potentially expanding its fanbase and reputation through such notable performances.
