Triple H punishes WWE star before WrestleMania 41, says ex-writer—title loss sparks controversy

Published:

Triple H punishes WWE star before WrestleMania 41, according to former WWE writer Vince Russo, who claims that Chelsea Green was penalized after questioning creative decisions just ahead of the major event. Green’s sudden title loss and absence from WrestleMania 41 have ignited debates among fans about WWE’s internal dynamics and booking choices.

Controversy Surrounds Chelsea Green’s Title Reign and Loss

The transition of creative control in WWE has brought significant changes, and this was especially evident in Chelsea Green’s trajectory last year. As the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion, Green was met with considerable acclaim and seemed poised for a strong run with the new title. Despite the promising start, her championship tenure felt brief and ultimately disappointing for many fans, culminating in her dropping the title to Zelina Vega. Notably, this defeat came just after Green was left out of the match card for WrestleMania 41.

On The Coach and Bro Show podcast, Vince Russo shared his perspective that Triple H may have intentionally booked Green’s downfall as punishment. According to Russo, Green’s decision to question the lack of plans for her title at WWE’s flagship event allegedly led to her abrupt title loss.

“So, I’m sure Chelsea asked some questions. I’m sure Chelsea may have had an issue with this. ‘Triple H, how are you going to get over this belt that you introduced if it’s not even defended at WrestleMania?’ And I’m sure Chelsea Green asked the same question… Well, Tommy, like the typical WWE BS, the next thing we know, Chelsea Green is losing to Zelina Vega and dropping the title. So, this is the chief petty officer’s [Triple H] way of punishing Chelsea Green… This was a title change because Triple H is petty, and Triple H had to establish once again who’s the boss,”

Former WWE Writer Advises Green to Seek Opportunities Beyond Wrestling

The conversation on The Coach and Bro Show continued with Russo voicing strong support for Green’s talent, while criticizing how Triple H has handled her position within WWE. Russo noted that such booking decisions raise questions not only among the fanbase but also among experienced wrestlers and observers. Since Green missed a major WrestleMania moment and soon after lost her title on SmackDown, Russo emphasized that she deserves better opportunities elsewhere.

“Chelsea, get yourself an agent. Maybe an acting coach to sharpen your skills a little. You’re bigger than the WWE. I know you love wrestling. They don’t deserve your talent if they’re going to treat you like this,”

Impact on Chelsea Green’s Future in WWE

Chelsea Green’s abrupt shift in booking and Russo’s public comments have put a spotlight on WWE’s leadership under Triple H, with discussions swirling about the conditions top stars face when challenging creative decisions. The controversy involving the Women’s United States Championship, Green’s treatment, and her absence from a high-profile stage raises broader concerns about the current environment for talent in WWE.

As speculation grows regarding Chelsea Green’s next move, many in the wrestling community are closely following whether she will remain with the company or seek new opportunities, possibly outside of wrestling altogether. With her talent now at the center of a contentious debate, Green’s career could take a new direction, reflecting ongoing challenges faced by WWE’s performers amid evolving creative leadership.
