Will Ospreay Neck Surgery Scheduled: Aerial Assassin’s Recovery Begins Soon

Published:

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed that AEW star Will Ospreay is set to undergo neck surgery in the coming weeks to address herniated discs. This update on Will Ospreay neck surgery update confirms the operation is necessary due to an injury he has been managing for approximately one month.

This procedure will require Ospreay to take an extended break from wrestling while he focuses on healing and rehabilitation.

Ospreay’s Recent Matches and Injuries Leading to Surgery

Ospreay was last featured in action during a storyline segment after a match at the All In: Texas pay-per-view event in July. Despite the seriousness of his neck condition, he chose to compete one final time in front of his home country crowd during AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door in London this August.

Before this last appearance, Ospreay openly discussed his health struggles, stating,

I am compromised, I’ve got a few herniated discs pushing against my spinal cord, which is affecting a couple of my nerves. But, I can do stuff and I can perform one last time before I need to go get it all corrected.

—Will Ospreay, AEW Wrestler

His final match took place on August 24, where he participated in the main event of Forbidden Door — a physically demanding Lights Out Steel Cage Match. Following this bout, the story within AEW explained his upcoming absence by showing an attack from Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli of the Death Riders.

Significance of Surgery for Ospreay’s Career and AEW

As a former two-time AEW International Champion, Will Ospreay has been one of AEW’s standout performers throughout 2025. While this surgery marks a pause in his in-ring activities, it represents an important step toward preserving his future. AEW fans and colleagues alike will be closely following his recovery process and looking forward to his eventual return to action.
