Karrion Kross Opens Up on WrestleMania 41 Backstage Promo Fallout and WWE Fallout

Published:

Karrion Kross recently revealed the unexpected tension caused by a postWrestleMania 41 backstage promo, which some WWE officials mistakenly believed was unscripted. Kross explained that although he thought the segment was cleared, confusion about the promo’s nature led to backstage friction during the event.

Miscommunication Among WWE Officials

On The Ariel Helwani Show, Kross described how he informed many backstage personnel that his intense promo was part of the storyline. Despite his efforts, the information did not reach everyone, including certain high-ranking WWE executives.

“I let everybody know, let’s make sure this is somewhat protected from the audience, but let everyone know internally that this is a work… Sure enough, not everybody knew that that was a work,”

Kross stated.

Because of this lapse in communication, many believed the promo was a genuine outburst, causing significant concern among senior staff.

“People were very upset with it because they thought it was real. We see people, specifically, like higher-ups, I’ll say higher-ups. They were offended.”

Clarifying the Situation with Triple H

Karrion Kross noted that the breakdown in communication led to a direct conversation with Paul Triple H Levesque in order to resolve the misunderstanding. Kross waited outside a production meeting to discuss the issue once it was clear Triple H was not informed ahead of time.

“One day I waited for Hunter outside the production meeting. Once it was actually brought to my attention that he was not okay with it, I explained everything to him. No one told him anything,”

he recalled.

“So as far as I know, at that point, we were good, but everyone was under the impression, a lot of people like, I just lost my mind. I was just trying to do my job. That’s my job. That day was to make people believe like any other day.”

Contract Status and Future Prospects

Kross also confirmed during the interview that his WWE contract expired on August 10 after he turned down a last-minute offer to renew. While Kross and Scarlett remain optimistic about possibly returning to WWE, both are now officially free agents.
