2K Games has revealed several updates to Universe Mode in WWE 2K26, including the long-requested WWE Draft, enhanced Money in the Bank cash-ins, and revamped promo options. These changes aim to provide players with a more customizable and immersive experience starting March 13, when the game launches, featuring stars from the Monday Night Wars, Attitude Era, and beyond.
Customizing Universe Mode from the Start
Upon beginning a new Classic Mode save, players now have the option to enter Universe Mode directly or use the new Universe Wizard to tailor their gameplay. This wizard allows selection of weekly shows and pay-per-views (PLEs), assignment of Superstars and champions to those shows, and setting the starting month of the calendar. Players can also add custom or previously downloaded shows, or create new ones from scratch.
Default shows such as Raw and SmackDown can be further customized by editing rosters, championships, and supported divisions. Each show can feature up to eight titles spanning men’s, women’s, tag team, and intergender-supported championships, plus two Money in the Bank briefcases.
Introducing the WWE Draft to Universe Mode
A major addition to WWE 2K26 is the WWE Draft, fulfilling a popular request among fans. The Draft allows rosters across shows to trade Superstars over the course of a week within the game. Players have the ability to create, edit, or remove Draft events on their calendars, giving each Draft a custom name and logo. Two shows participate in each Draft, with supplemental shows like NXT optionally available as draft pools.

Draft rounds are integrated into the shows’ match cards, with each round occupying a match slot. Players can set specific rules on who is eligible for selection. The game supports up to eight Draft events per Universe timeline, adding dynamic roster movement to gameplay.
Revamped Money in the Bank Cash-Ins
Money in the Bank (MITB) mechanics have been updated to allow briefcase cash-ins on any eligible championship during an event, removing restrictions on target titles. Players can initiate cash-ins either mid-match or immediately after a match, increasing strategic variety and unpredictability during play.
Enhanced Promo System Adds Depth and Interactivity
Promos in WWE 2K26 have been expanded with new features to deepen storytelling. Superstars can now make self-promos to announce changes such as a heel or face turn, division changes, or moving to a different show. Call-out and interrupt options have been enhanced to let challengers request specific match types or title shots, while champions can accept upcoming challenges for the next PLE.
Open challenges have gained more spontaneous title defense interactions. Additionally, a new post-match interview feature allows match winners to address division shifts, #1 contender matches, or title challenges, while losers can interrupt with options to shake hands, engage in brawls, or create tense staredowns, adding dramatic layers to Universe Mode narratives.
Setting the Stage for Future WWE 2K26 Gameplay
With these sweeping updates to Universe Mode, WWE 2K26 promises to deliver a richer, more strategic, and engaging wrestling management experience. The introduction of the WWE Draft, along with improved MITB cash-ins and promos, not only enhances realism but also expands player control over storylines and rosters.
As the game launches, wrestlers like Adam Pearce, CM Punk, Liv Morgan, AJ Lee, and others will be part of these new features, providing fans with deeper involvement in the evolving WWE universe. The expanded customization options encourage players to craft unique wrestling worlds, while the dynamic event possibilities ensure ongoing excitement in each save file.
