WWE SmackDown aired on Syfy for the second week due to Olympic event broadcasts, and the show experienced an increase in both total viewers and key demographic ratings compared to the previous episode. This rise occurred despite facing strong competition from NBC’s Olympic coverage.
Audience and Demo Ratings Show Positive Trends
Friday’s SmackDown episode achieved a 0.26 rating in the 18 to 49 age demographic and attracted 1.042 million viewers, according to Wrestlenomics. These figures represent an 11.5 percent growth in the key demo and a 6.8 percent increase in overall viewership from the prior week’s broadcast. Although these numbers do not reach the levels recorded before the network shift to Syfy, they surpass several of the show’s performances earlier in January.
The 0.26 rating remains below the February 6 episode’s 0.35 demo rating but aligns with recent viewership trends, indicating relative stability during this temporary change. Excluding last week’s viewership, this episode had the smallest audience since January 23, which drew 943,000 viewers.
Competition From Olympics and Measurement Changes Impact Ratings
On the same night, NBC’s Olympic coverage led with a 1.45 demo rating and 9.475 million viewers, dominating overall ratings in the 18 to 49 group.
It is important to highlight that Nielsen modified its Big Data and Panel measurement methodology in late January. This adjustment complicates direct comparisons to data from earlier weeks. Despite this, WWE SmackDown’s average rating so far in 2026 stands at 0.270 in the demo and 1.119 million viewers, which is noticeably lower than the 2025 average of 0.455 demo rating and 1.508 million viewers during the same timeframe.
Viewer Patterns Reflect Current Industry Dynamics
These viewership trends for WWE SmackDown indicate that while the shift to Syfy and Olympic scheduling present challenges, the program is managing to sustain a committed audience. Fans and analysts will likely be watching upcoming episodes closely to see if this stability continues as the show returns to its usual schedule.
