Apple iPhone 15 Series Joins India NavIC: Apple supports India’s NavIC on select iPhone 15 models. “NavIC” is India’s standalone satellite tracking system. ISRO-made NavIC. It shows the location and time in India and nearby countries. India has numerous satellites covering it.
Interestingly, Apple never added NavIC support to iPhones before. Apple hasn’t shared many feature details, but the official tech specs for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max confirm NavIC support. Apple wants to help India achieve its strategic goals, especially with NavIC replacing the global GPS.

In 2018, India launched the NavIC system. The aim is to give India a self-reliant, accurate navigation and timekeeping solution. It is used for travel, location-based services, personal mobility, resource tracking, surveying, scientific research, time syncing, and safety alerts.
India told smartphone makers to add NavIC support by a set date. This project was part of the government’s plan to promote NavIC usage for goods. Smartphone makers are worried about higher hardware costs, but Apple adding NavIC support to iPhone 15 shows their collaboration with India’s goals.
Note that this applies to all iPhones made in India. Global iPhone 15 Pro models have NavIC for better navigation. Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, and Apple phones have NavIC. It has highlighted the Indian way of navigation.
