Becky Lynch WWE Reaction Controversy Sparks Fury Over Ruined Moment

Published:

Former WWE head writer Vince Russo recently commented on Becky Lynch’s reactions during AJ Lee’s unexpected comeback on SmackDown last week, highlighting issues around Lynch’s performance. The return of the former Divas Champion, who had been absent from WWE for over a decade, immediately drew considerable attention from fans and wrestlers alike.

During the latest SmackDown episode, Becky Lynch slapped CM Punk and attempted to insult him again, claiming she wasn’t afraid of roster members Rhea Ripley or Bayley. However, the atmosphere changed abruptly when AJ Lee appeared, catching Lynch visibly off guard amid loud crowd reactions. Russo expressed dissatisfaction with Lynch’s exaggerated reaction to someone who had not recently been active in the wrestling ring.

Overacting Overshadows the Moment, According to Russo

On the Legion of RAW show, Russo detailed the sequence, explaining that Lynch confidently dismissed threats from Ripley and Bayley before AJ Lee’s arrival. According to Russo, Lynch’s sudden fear appeared excessive considering Lee’s decade-long absence and smaller stature. The veteran writer felt that this overacting diminished the authenticity of the moment and conflicted with Lynch’s earlier bravado.

“On SmackDown, she cuts a promo on CM Punk, and she says to CM Punk, ‘Who are you gonna get? Rhea Ripley? I already beat Rhea Ripley. I’m not afraid of Rhea Ripley. Who are you gonna get? Bayley? I already beat Bayley. I’m not afraid of Bayley.’ So, she’s not afraid of anybody, right? So then, here comes a 38-year-old woman who hasn’t wrestled in 10 years, skipping down to the ring. And you would think, with Becky Lynch’s facials, you would think that a mass murderer was walking down that lane. The overselling of being scared of somebody that hasn’t wrestled in 10 years, who is 38 years old and weighs about 90 pounds soaking wet.”

Upcoming Mixed Tag Team Match Sets the Stage for Further Conflict

The tensions between Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, AJ Lee, and CM Punk have now escalated with an official mixed tag team match announced for Wrestlepalooza. This pairing was confirmed during the latest RAW episode, promising to bring the rivalry to a climactic showdown. The match is expected to test Lynch’s resilience following the recent controversy surrounding her reaction to AJ Lee’s return.

The Becky Lynch WWE reaction controversy underlines the complexities of balancing character portrayal and audience expectations, especially when past stars return after long absences. How Lynch adjusts her performance in the upcoming match could influence fan reception and the ongoing narrative within WWE storylines.
