Dominik Mysterio’s Royal Rumble Return Remains Uncertain

The Royal Rumble event scheduled for January 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is drawing intense attention, especially regarding which wrestlers will compete. A key question revolves around WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio, whose participation remains unclear due to a recent shoulder injury.

Mysterio suffered the injury during AAA’s Guerra de Titanes on December 20 and has been inactive since. Despite this setback, he surprised fans by appearing at the Future Stars of Wrestling (FSW) Arena in Las Vegas on January 29, only two days before the Royal Rumble event.

Dominik Mysterio’s Recent Activity Signals Progress but Raises Doubts

At the FSW Arena, the promotion shared a photo welcoming Mysterio and expressed optimism about his recovery.

“Great to have WWE Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio at the @FSWVegas Arena. Hopefully he listened to all the advice we gave him and help him get over,”

the tweet stated.

This visit followed reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter indicating Mysterio would not require surgery for his shoulder injury and was expected to be sidelined for only three to four weeks. The injury occurred when his father, Rey Mysterio, reversed a suplex into a DDT during their tag team match, resulting in Dominik landing heavily on his shoulder.

The WWE has maintained discretion on the injury’s details but quietly removed Dominik from the December 26 live event in Baltimore. He was set to team with Liv Morgan against Rey Mysterio and Rhea Ripley but was replaced by Grayson Waller. During the December 29 episode of RAW, Liv Morgan subtly acknowledged his absence, mentioning, “Daddy Dom is out,” which commentary also confirmed.

Road to Recovery and Current Status Ahead of Royal Rumble

While Dominik’s appearance at FSW suggests progress in his rehabilitation, his participation at the Royal Rumble still appears doubtful. Members of his stable, Judgment Day, have already traveled overseas to Saudi Arabia, but Dominik remains in the United States as he continues his recovery efforts.

Regardless of whether he competes at the Royal Rumble, Dominik is clearly staying connected to the wrestling world and working with professionals to maintain his readiness.

Fan Perspectives and Future Outlook for Dominik Mysterio

The uncertainty surrounding Dominik Mysterio’s involvement in the Royal Rumble has raised debate among fans about whether he should compete before being fully cleared or prioritize healing. His return timeline could influence both his career trajectory and the dynamics of upcoming WWE events.
