Jerry Moss A and M Records : One of the most famous musicians is Jerry Moss. He and Herb Alpert founded A&M Records in a Los Angeles garage. They built a successful firm together. They discovered and supported Alpert, the Police, the Carpenters, and others through working together. Moss retired at 88.
Moss and Alpert’s 2006 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction showed their collaboration. Moss died quietly at home in Bel Air, according to his family. Tina, his wife, stated that he died naturally.
“His distinctive spark, the gleam in his eyes, always showed he was on the verge of his next great adventure,” his relatives said. For his deep and varied chats, we will miss him.
Alpert and Moss oversaw one of the most influential independent music labels for over 25 years. From the Carpenters and Cat Stevens through Janet Jackson and Soundgarden, the label has many artists. The label released such hits as Herb Alpert’s “A Taste of Honey” and the Police’s “Every Breath You Take”.

In 2007, Moss told Artist House Music, “Sometimes a record would come our way, and Herbie would look at me in awe, wondering how we had earned the right to release something so brilliant.”
Frampton, Amy Grant, and Dionne Warwick, a non-A&M musician who had known Moss since the early 1960s, honored him at the Mark Taper Forum in downtown Los Angeles earlier this year. Moss didn’t speak, but many applauded his work.
Rita Coolidge, on the red carpet, stated, “Herb was creative, but Jerry altered the recording industry. All musicians wanted to be at A&M, not simply another record label.
Jerry Moss leaves more than his name. His second wife, Tina Morse, and their three children are also his legacy. His philosophy reflected his life and musical views. As he told The New York Times, “Our goal was simple: happiness.” Artists thrive when they pursue their own interests rather than being molded to meet others’ ideas.
