Sol Ruca debuted in the WWE 2K series with WWE 2K25, though she revealed that her scan for the game was done several years before her actual appearance. Ruca’s character first appeared in last year’s installment, and she is anticipated to return in the upcoming WWE 2K26 release. This early scanning indicates a long lead time for character development in the franchise.
Details From Ruca’s Interview About the 2K Scanning Experience
In an interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Ruca shared memories of the scanning process, which took place well before she was officially added to the game roster. She described entering a large RV equipped with multiple cameras capturing detailed images of her tattoos and facial expressions.
“I think they used to do that kind of stuff with people,”
Ruca told Sapp.
“But as far as like this past one that came out that I was in, I have no idea. We did like the, 2K scan. So there’s this big RV that we go into and there’s a seat with cameras all around you. They basically take pictures of all your tattoos and you making facial expressions and stuff. That was kind of all that I did. That was, I think, a few years before I was even in the game.”
She went on to explain how a batch of wrestlers was scanned early, likely to have assets ready for future game releases.
“So I think they just did a bunch of people just in case they were needed for the game and then eventually that came out. So as far as that goes, I don’t know if it’s any different next time. I don’t know. That’s, that’s all I got for you, to be honest.”
Upcoming WWE 2K26 Editions and Release Information
The next WWE 2K installment, WWE 2K26, will feature several limited editions, including an Attitude Era version, a Monday Night War edition, and a King of Kings deluxe edition, alongside the standard release. Pre-orders for the game will begin on January 30th, continuing the franchise’s trend of multiple collectible editions for fans.
Implications of Early Scanning for WWE 2K Series Development
Ruca’s experience highlights the extensive preparation involved in developing WWE 2K games, where players are scanned years in advance to create accurate in-game models. This process suggests a strategic approach to character inclusion but also reflects some uncertainty from talent about how their likeness is ultimately used. As WWE 2K26 approaches, fans can expect continued realism and expanded rosters shaped by these early digital efforts.
