Tallulah Willis Shares Recovery Journey: Eating Disorder, ADHD and Family Bonds

Tallulah Willis Shares Recovery Journey : Tallulah Willis, who is the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, recently went on Instagram to openly talk about her recovery from an eating disorder. She shared a little bit about her experience and how it has helped her be there for her father during his health problems.

Willis posted pictures of herself before and after her recovery, showing how far she’s come. She compared a picture from before she started improving with a more recent picture where she looks healthier. In the post, she captioned, “I love her. And I love her and see how courageous she’s been.” The supportive replies from her sister, Rumer Willis, and others in a group chat screenshot further emphasized her transformation.

This revelation follows an intimate essay Willis penned for Vogue in May, detailing her battle with anorexia nervosa. “For the last four years, I have suffered from anorexia nervosa… restricting food has felt like the last vice that I got to hold on to,” she wrote. By spring 2022, her weight had plummeted to about 84 pounds, leading to severe health repercussions.

A pivotal moment in her recovery was her stay at Driftwood Recovery, a Texas-based rehabilitation center after her engagement with Dillon Buss ended in June 2021. It was there that Willis was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. Recounting her experience, she said, “By the time I left Texas in October, I felt much better.”

Central to Willis’s journey is her desire for harmony with her family. She expressed a profound regret for not being available during her father’s health challenges. In February, Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia following an initial diagnosis of aphasia in 2022. Tallulah Willis’s renewed health has allowed her to reconnect with her father. “Recovery is probably lifelong, but I now have the tools to be present in all facets of my life, especially in my relationship with my dad,” she reflected.

Willis is open about her difficulties with ADHD medication. She said it has been “life-changing,” but she also acknowledged that it can decrease her appetite. This medicine played a role in her journey towards body dysmorphia, a condition she even showed off on Instagram.

Willis’s story is a really interesting tale about a young woman who has to deal with being famous, taking care of her mental health, and handling her family responsibilities. Her story shows how eating disorders can be complicated, the stress of being famous, and the strong connections within a family. As she keeps going, Willis emphasizes how important it is to love yourself. She says, “That idea of loving yourself before you can love someone else is true.”

Her getting better and her family getting closer show that there is hope and strength even when things are tough. By sharing her experiences with the public, Willis helps us understand mental health better and shows us how support, understanding, and love can make a big difference.
