Andre Chase Bio

Chance Barrow (born April 22, 1989) is an American professional wrestler who is currently signed to WWE, where he performs for the NXT brand under the ring name Andre Chase, often referred to as Mr. Chase. He is a former two-time NXT Tag Team Champion. Standing 6 feet 2 inches tall, Barrow has competed across the American independent circuit and in Japan before establishing himself as one of the most recognizable character acts in WWE’s NXT brand.

Before adopting the Andre Chase persona, Barrow performed as Harlem Bravado, teaming with his brother Lance Bravado across multiple promotions. The pair, known collectively as the Bravado Brothers, built a reputation as a hard-working tag team in promotions including Ring of Honor, Pro Wrestling Noah, Chikara, Evolve, and Dragon Gate USA. His transition to WWE in 2021 introduced a unique on-screen identity centered on his fictional Chase University, a stable that became a fan favorite within NXT programming.

Early Life and Background

Chance Barrow was born on April 22, 1989, in Eden, North Carolina, in the United States. Growing up in a wrestling family, he was introduced to the industry through his older brother Houston, and the two shared a passion for the sport from an early age. The Barrow brothers later pursued professional training at Ring of Honor’s Wrestling Academy under the guidance of Delirious, which laid the foundation for their careers as a tag team.

The opportunity to train under Delirious provided the Bravado Brothers with a structured wrestling education and exposure to a national promotion. Their early training period shaped their in-ring fundamentals, including technical wrestling, pacing, and tag team psychology, all of which would become hallmarks of their act in the years that followed.

Path to Professional Wrestling

Barrow and his brother Houston made their professional debuts in 2008 after completing their training at the ROH Wrestling Academy. The pair rebranded themselves as Harlem and Lance Bravado, forming the Bravado Brothers tag team. They debuted for Ring of Honor in September 2009 and quickly made a name for themselves by competing in dark matches against established talent including Tony Kozina and Anthony Nese.

The Bravado Brothers’ first main roster appearance came at ROH’s 8th Anniversary Show, where they were defeated by the Kings of Wrestling. They entered the Tag Wars 2010 tournament and reached the semi-finals before being eliminated by the Dark City Fight Club. Their consistency in the tag team division earned them a shot at the ROH World Tag Team Championship in May 2012 against Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team, though they only won by disqualification and did not capture the titles.

Andre Chase Career

Independent Circuit (2008–2021)

Alongside their ROH commitments, the Bravado Brothers expanded their careers by touring with several international and independent promotions. In January 2012, Harlem and Lance moved to Japan for three months to train and compete with Pro Wrestling Noah, where Harlem primarily worked singles matches. Their time in Noah helped broaden their in-ring style and exposed them to the strong-style wrestling approach of the Japanese scene.

The brothers later made appearances in Chikara, Evolve, and Dragon Gate USA. In 2013, they won the FIP Tag Team Championship at the Declaration of Independence pay-per-view and later captured Dragon Gate USA’s Open the United Gate Championship in November 2013 by defeating the Young Bucks. The Bravado Brothers held the Open the United Gate Championship until September 2014, when they lost it to Anthony Nese and Caleb Konley. In 2017, Lance Bravado retired from in-ring competition, allowing Harlem to pursue a singles career on the independent circuit, primarily with Evolve Wrestling.

WWE and NXT (2021–Present)

In February 2021, it was announced that Harlem Bravado had signed with WWE and would be reporting to the WWE Performance Center. He made his televised debut on the July 2 episode of 205 Live under the new ring name Andre Chase, defeating Guru Raaj to qualify for the NXT Breakout Tournament. He was eliminated in the first round of the tournament by Odyssey Jones on the July 20 episode of NXT.

On the September 21 episode of NXT, Chase introduced a new heel teacher persona and began hosting a segment called Andre Chase University. He recruited Bodhi Hayward and Thea Hail as his students, while slowly transitioning into a fan-favorite character. Duke Hudson later joined the group as its flag bearer, and the stable’s popularity grew throughout 2022 and 2023. On October 24, 2023, at Night 1 of NXT Halloween Havoc, Chase and Hudson defeated The Family to win the NXT Tag Team Championship, marking Chase’s first title in WWE. They lost the titles 21 days later to Tony D’Angelo and Channing Lorenzo.

The Chase U Disbandment (2024)

At the end of 2023, a storyline revealed that Chase University was in heavy debt after Chase had gambled away the stable’s funds. The storyline intensified in early 2024 with the introduction of Ridge Holland, who eventually became an official member of Chase U. On August 13, 2024, Chase and Holland defeated Nathan Frazer and Axiom to win the NXT Tag Team Championship for a second time, with Holland capturing his first WWE title. They lost the championships 19 days later at NXT No Mercy, after which Holland attacked the stable, reverted to a heel persona, and effectively broke up Chase U from within.

Chase was defeated by Holland at NXT Halloween Havoc in an Ambulance match on October 27, 2024. On the November 19, 2024 episode of NXT, Holland defeated Chase with the stipulation that Chase U had to disband should Chase lose. The group officially disbanded, with its members going their separate ways.

2025 Season Performance

Following the disbandment of Chase U in late 2024, Andre Chase began appearing in storylines in 2025 centered on the possible reformation of his stable. On the April 15, 2025 episode of NXT, Chase reunited with Thea Hail, who gave her blessing for the reformation of Chase U while choosing to remain an alumna. One week later, on the April 22, 2025 episode of NXT, Chase opened a briefcase containing a Chase U hoodie, officially confirming that Chase U is back.

Earlier in 2025, Chase had also been approached by Uriah Connors and Kale Dixon, who attempted to convince him to reform the group. With Chase U officially back in business, the 2025 outlook for Andre Chase includes rebuilding the stable’s presence in the NXT tag team division. His experience as a two-time former NXT Tag Team Champion, combined with renewed fan investment in the Chase U brand, positions him as a key figure in the brand’s midcard storylines going forward.
