At the Survivor Series: WarGames event last November, WWE initially set up a third match between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas this April. However, creative changes have shifted this plan, with Rhodes moving toward a Triple Threat match against Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu. Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar’s WrestleMania opponent has been unexpectedly switched, surprising fans and adding uncertainty to the card.
From Oba Femi to LA Knight: Lesnar’s Opponent Switch
Although Lesnar was hinted to face Oba Femi during the Men’s Royal Rumble, reports have emerged that WWE now plans for him to take on LA Knight, also known as the Megastar. During the Royal Rumble, Rhodes assisted Knight in eliminating Lesnar from the match, heightening the rivalry. Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer indicated that this new matchup may be officially revealed when Lesnar returns to WWE Raw on February 23 in Atlanta.
The Brock Lesnar direction for Raw is likely to be teased at the 2/23 Raw in Atlanta when he returns,
Meltzer wrote in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
There was a tease at the Royal Rumble of Oba Femi and after the Rumble we were only told that it was not a sure thing yet.
We do know that in the lineup in late January for the show, that Lesnar was listed as facing LA Knight. But in the Rumble, nothing memorable was done in that direction while the Lesnar-Femi face-off was set up to get a big reaction and actually got the biggest reaction of the show except for Brie Bella,
he added.

Impact of Low Ticket Sales Prompts WWE to Reevaluate WrestleMania Card
Recent reports indicate WWE has been facing challenges with ticket sales for WrestleMania. An internal meeting involving all departments was held to address concerns after figures showed ticket sales trailing around 10,000 fewer than what was recorded at WrestleMania 41 during the same period.
Meltzer suggests this downturn has caused WWE to reconsider the entire lineup, aiming to boost fan interest ahead of the two-night event at Allegiant Stadium, which has even begun offering 25% discounts on select tickets.
The company’s declining momentum is attributed to several factors, including creative decisions impacting many Superstars, as well as the recent departure of John Cena. These shifts have contributed to a growing sense of frustration and uncertainty among the fanbase heading into WrestleMania.
Looking Ahead: What to Expect from WWE’s WrestleMania Plans
As WWE finalizes its WrestleMania 42 card, the confirmation of Brock Lesnar facing LA Knight could signal a new direction for the company’s marquee event. Fans are eager to see how this storyline develops, particularly with Lesnar set to announce his intentions during the upcoming Raw episode in Atlanta. The success of these adjustments may influence WWE’s ability to recapture enthusiasm and bolster ticket sales before the event.
With these evolving matchups and strategies, WrestleMania 42’s atmosphere remains tense as WWE strives to overcome recent setbacks and reignite fan excitement heading into its biggest annual show.
