Roman Reigns continues to demonstrate his formidable WWE capability following a heated segment on Monday Night RAW. After winning the Men’s Royal Rumble earlier this year, Reigns is set to challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 42, heightening tensions within WWE.
Drew McIntyre, the Undisputed WWE Champion, spoke candidly in an interview with Complex about CM Punk’s recent provocative comment aimed at Reigns by referencing his late father during RAW. McIntyre acknowledged that Punk’s attempt to get under Reigns’ skin could backfire, as Reigns is known for retaliating harshly when personal lines are crossed.
Drew McIntyre Reflects on the Intensity Between Roman Reigns and CM Punk
Having competed against both Roman Reigns and CM Punk, McIntyre expressed respect for their wrestling skills but warned that conflicts could escalate due to personal attacks. In his words, the stakes grew higher once the feud became personal, recalling his own experience with Reigns.
“I’ve been in the ring with both of them, I know how — it kills me to say it — how good Punk is and how good Roman is. So, when they start throwing bombs, it’s gonna be interesting. He wants to get that personal, I know what Roman can do when you get that personal. I’ve said some horrible things about him in the past, he made my life hell for years. So, I’m curious to see the fallout of that. I won’t watch it live, I’ll watch the clip because I’m focused on one thing, the show that’s been the better show since they had their first showdown — SmackDown,” said McIntyre.
Meanwhile, McIntyre is preparing to defend his WWE title against Cody Rhodes on the upcoming episode of SmackDown. The victor will then face Randy Orton, the winner of the Men’s Elimination Chamber, for the championship at WrestleMania 42. This pathway hints at possible changes to the main event landscape at the big event.
Roman Reigns’ Cousin Issues a Bold Warning to CM Punk
Adding to the growing conflict, Zilla Fatu, cousin of Roman Reigns and son of the late WWE star Umaga, openly criticized CM Punk following his remarks on RAW. Fatu, known for his work on the independent wrestling circuit, expressed his frustration during a live stream, signaling a confrontation could be imminent between the two.
“I’m not a CM Punk fan no more. I’m about to slap CM Punk when I see him. We smacking Phil,” said Zilla Fatu.
The fierce exchanges surrounding Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and their allies have intensified the build-up to WrestleMania 42, where the World Heavyweight Championship will be contested. Fans can expect heightened drama and potentially explosive encounters as rivalries come to a head.
