Cody Rhodes Unveils Shocking New Look as Guile in Upcoming Live-Action Street Fighter Movie

Published:

Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion, is confirmed to portray Guile in the forthcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter. Fellow cast member and comedian Andrew Schulz, who is also part of the film, recently teased Rhodes’ appearance as the iconic American character, creating excitement among fans.

The casting news was revealed several months ago, with Rhodes joining other WWE stars in the movie, including Roman Reigns as Akuma, a principal villain from the well-known video game series. Schulz, who will play Dan Hibiki, shared a sneak peek of Rhodes’ Guile costume, featuring his recognizable camouflage pants and boots, along with the signature flat-top hairstyle visible in the shadowed image.

“A new warrior has entered,” Schulz wrote with Downstait’s Kingdom playing in the background.

Star-Studded Cast Brings Iconic Characters to Life

Alongside Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, the film’s ensemble includes Andrew Koji as Ryu, Noah Centineo as Ken, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, and David Dastmalchian as M. Bison. Other notable performers are Jason Momoa in the role of Blanka, 50 Cent as Balrog, Orville Peck portraying Vega, Vidyut Jammwal as Dhalsim, and NJPW star Hirooki Goto cast as Honda. This diverse lineup is shaping up to bring the beloved Street Fighter universe vividly to screens.

Cody Rhodes’ WWE Storyline and Street Fighter Filming Overlap

With the recent Instagram reveal by Andrew Schulz, it is apparent that filming for the Street Fighter movie is underway. Around the same time, Cody Rhodes disappeared from WWE television after being attacked by Drew McIntyre on SmackDown two weeks ago. McIntyre claimed Rhodes was to blame in a blistering promo last Friday, signaling a major storyline development.

The prominent wrestling event Clash in Paris is now just weeks away, yet Rhodes has not been booked for a potential title match against McIntyre. Although a confrontation between them appears likely, Rhodes’ involvement in the match remains uncertain as production commitments for Street Fighter continue.

Roman Reigns, similarly, was removed from WWE programming after an assault by The Vision on RAW two weeks ago. He is also absent from the upcoming Fatal Four-Way bout for the World Heavyweight Championship, set to feature Seth Rollins, CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight.

Implications of Rhodes and Reigns’ Dual Roles on WWE Appearances

The dual commitments of both Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns to the Street Fighter project have caused disruptions in WWE storylines, possibly limiting their availability for key matches in the coming weeks. Fans are closely watching how their characters will be managed both on-screen in wrestling and in this high-profile film adaptation. The blending of their WWE personas and roles in the movie adds a layer of complexity to the wrestling promotion’s ongoing narratives.

As the Street Fighter movie progresses, anticipation will only build around Rhodes’ portrayal of Guile and how this crossover impacts his wrestling career moving forward.
