Hunter Biden Payments: In a recent development, Republicans on the House Oversight Committee unveiled a document exposing payments from Hunter Biden’s business entity, Owasco PC, to President Joe Biden during a period when he was not in office. The redacted document, shared, indicates that an account linked to Hunter Biden made a payment of $1,380 to Joe Biden on September 17, 2018, with the understanding that these payments would occur monthly. The committee is reportedly aware of at least three such monthly payments to the president.
However, the information provided and suggests that these payments were part of Hunter Biden’s efforts to repay his father for a Ford Raptor, details that were already publicized. Sources familiar with the payment process reveal that Hunter Biden faced challenges securing credit due to low credit scores while grappling with addiction. Consequently, Joe Biden signed for the car, which was registered in his name.
House Oversight Chairman James Comer, in a video announcing the payment, emphasized that this wasn’t a direct payment from Hunter Biden’s personal account but from an account associated with his corporation, which received payments from various sources, including China. The White House has consistently maintained that the president was never involved in business with his son.

White House spokesman Ian Sams criticized Comer’s statements, accusing him of spreading falsehoods to sustain what he referred to as a “failing impeachment stunt.” Sams highlighted that recent reporting clarifies that buying a Ford pickup truck is not an impeachable offense.
Hunter Biden’s attorney, Abbe Lowell, responded to Comer’s statements, characterizing them as an attempt to revive a baseless investigation. Lowell clarified that Joe Biden assisted his son financially during a period of financial struggle due to addiction, necessitating support as Hunter couldn’t secure credit for a truck. Once Hunter was financially capable, he repaid his father and took over the payments himself.
The top Democrat on the House Oversight panel, Rep. Jamie Raskin, criticized Comer’s actions, describing them as digging up old public reporting, distorting facts, and presenting them as breaking news. Raskin highlighted that, as a private citizen, Joe Biden made car payments for his son, citing a New York Post article from 2022. The controversy surrounding these payments adds another layer to the ongoing scrutiny faced by the Biden family.
