LA Knight is positioning himself for a challenge at the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas this April. Currently slated to compete in the men’s Elimination Chamber match this Saturday in Chicago, Knight will face several contenders for the chance to wrestle Drew McIntyre for the WWE Title at the biggest event of the year. Knight shared his thoughts on this opportunity during an appearance on ESPN SportsCenter, emphasizing what the match could mean for his professional wrestling journey.
LA Knight Reflects on His 23-Year Journey in Wrestling
During the ESPN interview, Knight described how securing a WrestleMania main event would represent validation for over two decades of commitment in wrestling.
It would mean all this paid off. Everything. All the effort, all the time, all the blood, sweat, tears, all that stuff that you hear everybody talk about, it’s real,
Knight said, underscoring the personal significance of the potential title shot.
The Importance of WrestleMania in Knight’s Career
Knight elaborated on why WrestleMania holds particular importance in his long career.
I’m 23 years deep in this thing right now, but with that being the case, when you talk about a marquee match like that, nothing gets bigger than WrestleMania,
he explained. Knight has previously appeared twice at WrestleMania, first claiming a win over AJ Styles at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, then facing defeat against Jacob Fatu, known as the Samoan Werewolf, at WrestleMania 41. Now, he is determined to move beyond mid-card storylines and secure his place in the main event for WWE’s premier prize.

Claiming His Spot in the Championship Picture
Expressing a firm belief about his place in the championship race, Knight stated:
As far as I’m concerned, me being in the World Title picture at WrestleMania (is) overdue if you ask me,
making clear that he feels ready and deserving of this spotlight. The Elimination Chamber match also includes prominent competitors such as former champions Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes, and Jey Uso, who recently earned his spot by winning a triple threat qualifier on RAW. Additional entrants from NXT, Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans, add further depth, with Evans becoming the youngest competitor ever in this match. Jey Uso’s victory came after Bronson Reed, one of his opponents, suffered an injury during the contest, allowing Uso to advance with a decisive spear and diving splash.
What This Opportunity Represents for LA Knight
For Knight, the chance to compete for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 could finalize years of perseverance and growth in professional wrestling. Such a high-profile match promises to elevate his status and potentially establish him as one of WWE’s top stars. As the Elimination Chamber match approaches, fans and industry watchers will be closely following Knight’s journey, anticipating whether he can seize this long-awaited title shot in front of a massive crowd at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
