Sol Ruca Unveils the Gymnastics-Inspired Creation Behind Her Iconic Sol Snatcher Move in WWE NXT

Published:

Sol Ruca, a standout competitor in WWE NXT, has gained attention not only for her charismatic wrestling style but also for her signature move, the Sol Snatcher. Drawing from her gymnastics background, she combines athleticism with innovation to execute this unique finisher, which involves a springboard front flip followed by a cutter, distinguishing her in the wrestling world.

During a discussion with WWE Hall of Famer Booker T and Brad Gilmore on the Hall of Fame podcast, Ruca revealed the origins of her Sol Snatcher move. She explained that the technique is inspired by a gymnastics maneuver she mastered on the high bar, called the straddle back, which involves a forward and backward swing followed by a half front flip landing on the hands in a handstand. Wanting to adapt this movement to wrestling, Ruca modified it for safety and effectiveness, ultimately settling on landing in the cutter position, which has become her trademark finisher.

It’s tough coming up with completely unique stuff in wrestling because everything has been done before. Mine kind of came from gymnastics. It was a move that I did on the high bar called a straddle back and it’s where you swing off the high bar forward, you swing backwards, you let go and do kind of like a half front-flip and then land on your hands in a handstand.I kind of wanted to bring that into a wrestling move. I had seen a similar move from someone who did it on the side of the rope, and they did it into a stunner, but I was like, ‘There is no way my back is going to handle that long-term.’ I tried to workshop it a little bit and decided that landing in the cutter position was the best thing for me and it took off. Currently, Sol Ruca holds the distinction of being a double champion in NXT, securing both the Women’s North American and Speed Championships. Her success within the brand highlights the impact of her innovative style and technical skill in the ring.

Potential New Double Champion Set to Emerge in NXT

Following Sol Ruca’s achievements, another prominent figure in NXT could soon join the ranks of double champions. Jacy Jayne, who currently holds the NXT Women’s Championship, is preparing for a high-stakes match at Slammiversary 2025 against Masha Slamovich, the reigning TNA Knockouts World Champion. This confrontation is set to be a “Winner Takes All” contest, with both titles on the line.

If Jayne emerges victorious, she will become the first wrestler to hold the NXT Women’s Championship and the TNA Knockouts World Championship simultaneously, an accomplishment that would add to her prominence and further intensify competition within the women’s division. For now, Sol Ruca remains the sole double champion in NXT.

In the past, only a few wrestlers, including Keith Lee and Stephanie Vaquer, have held double world championships in NXT, marking this as a rare and significant achievement within the organization.

Moreover, CM Punk commented on the speculation surrounding his wife AJ Lee’s return to WWE, addressing rumors with a surprising statement. Punk also disclosed details about the creative process behind a rap dissing John Cena, including the collaborators involved.

With Slammiversary approaching, TNA appears poised for a historic moment, expanding its influence and generating excitement among fans. Roman Reigns has also been given a new nickname ahead of WWE RAW, adding intrigue to the ongoing narratives within WWE.
