Tiffany Stratton spoke out about the brief duration of her WWE Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam 2025, where she defeated Jade Cargill in just seven minutes. Despite some backlash from fans regarding the short time, Stratton believes the length was appropriate given the nature of their storyline.
The match took place on the first night of this year’s SummerSlam event, with Stratton defending her title against Cargill. Although a title change appeared possible, Stratton successfully retained her championship in a swift contest.
Stratton Explains Why the Match Did Not Need to Be Longer
During an interview on The Babyfaces podcast, Stratton addressed the concerns over match length, pointing out that there was no intense personal rivalry demanding an extended bout. She felt a fast-paced, competitive seven-minute match suitably fit the storyline’s scope.
I feel like we didn’t have this like insane life or death story going into SummerSlam, so I didn’t really feel like we needed — like you said — an insane 40-minute long match,
Stratton said.
I thought it was a very competitive match, it was very fast. And I think that’s all we really needed. So I’m actually really pleased with how my match went at SummerSlam with Jade Cargill.
Nerves and First-Time SummerSlam Experience
Stratton admitted she was very nervous entering her first-ever SummerSlam event, but was proud of pulling off the victory against a top contender like Cargill.
Going into SummerSlam, I was so nervous. It was my first SummerSlam ever,
she shared.
So that alone was just so nerve-wracking. But, thankfully, I pulled through and I beat Little Miss Jade Cargill.
Championship Reign and Prospective Future Opponents
Since winning the WWE Women’s Championship by cashing in her Money in the Bank contract on Nia Jax earlier this year, Stratton has defended her title against several notable challengers. Among her prominent rivals are Jade Cargill, Nia Jax, and Giulia, who are considered top competitors in SmackDown’s women’s division.
Looking ahead, Stratton expressed interest in facing dream opponents such as Rhea Ripley and Becky Lynch, hoping to test herself against some of the division’s biggest stars in future matches.
