Tony Khan Eyes WWE Star Karrion Kross to Revive AEW’s Dark Order After SummerSlam 2025

Published:

Since its start in 2019, AEW has successfully added several WWE talents to its roster. Recently, Tony Khan is considering signing Karrion Kross, a prominent WWE star who may soon leave the company. This move could breathe new life into AEW’s faction, The Dark Order, by placing Kross at its forefront.

Karrion Kross, also known as the Herald of Doomsday, rejoined WWE in 2022 after a brief release in 2021. Despite not having a major spotlight on WWE’s main shows or pay-per-views, Kross has developed a large fan base, thanks to his strong character and promo skills. Currently, he is in the final year of his contract, and reports suggest that neither he nor his wife Scarlett have renewed their deals yet.

Though Kross is expected to remain with WWE, if the offers do not meet his expectations, AEW could step in to sign him. The 40-year-old former NXT Champion has the potential to interact with AEW’s top stars and revitalize The Dark Order, a core group since the company’s early days. His character’s focus on transforming individuals fits naturally with the faction’s dynamics.

The Dark Order has seen limited screen time on AEW television lately, despite maintaining a loyal fan following. Kross’s presence could inspire members like Evil Uno, John Silver, and Alex Reynolds to adopt a more intense, driven approach. Bringing a talent of his level into the group would also increase its importance on AEW programming. However, this remains speculation for the time being.

At the recent SummerSlam, Karrion Kross competed in a singles match against Sami Zayn, continuing their ongoing rivalry, but was defeated.

This Week’s AEW Dynamite Card and Location

The upcoming AEW Dynamite episode is scheduled to take place at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio. So far, only two matches have been announced: a World Tag Team Title Tournament semifinal between The Young Bucks and Brodido, and a singles contest featuring Mark Briscoe against MJF.

Additionally, Mercedes Mone, holder of eight belts, will make her return to AEW television during this episode. This will be her first appearance since falling to Toni Storm at the All In: Texas event.
