The WWE SummerSlam event is gearing up to deliver exciting women’s title bouts over two nights at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 2 and 3. Packed with high stakes and fierce competition, the WWE SummerSlam Women’s Title Matches will showcase some of the division’s top talent battling for championships across different categories.
On the first night, Tiffany Stratton is scheduled to defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Jade Cargill. Cargill earned this opportunity by defeating Asuka in the finals of the 2025 Queen of the Ring tournament during the Night of Champions event. Her momentum continued with a win over Naomi in a No Holds Barred match at WWE Evolution. Stratton, meanwhile, successfully retained her title against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at the same Evolution event.
Also on night one, the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez, representing The Judgment Day, will defend their belts against the unlikely duo of Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. While Flair and Bliss are not friends, they have partnered tactically following Bliss’s earlier maneuvering that put them on the path toward a tag title opportunity. Their previous attempt to claim the championship at Evolution—a fatal four-way match—ended in defeat as Rodriguez secured the pin. Given Flair and Bliss were not pinned, they pushed for a direct tag team rematch, which WWE approved for SummerSlam.

Night two features Becky Lynch defending the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against challenger Lyra Valkyria. Valkyria has imposed a no countout, no disqualification stipulation for the match and declared that if she loses, she will no longer pursue the Intercontinental title while Lynch remains champion.
Closing the women’s title card on night two, Naomi faces a triple threat challenge against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s World Championship. Naomi captured this title in dramatic fashion at Evolution, where after SKY defended it against Ripley, Naomi cashed in her Money in the Bank contract to join the match. She secured the win with a moonsault after knocking Ripley into the steel ring post, igniting a new reign as champion and setting the stage for this high-profile triple threat showdown.
Mercedes Moné Becomes an Eight-Time Champion with Latest Wins
Mercedes Moné has solidified her reputation as a dominant champion by accumulating eight women’s championship belts worldwide, most recently adding two more titles in Poland. During PTW’s All About The Mone event in Koslow, Moné defeated local star Diana Strong to claim both the Prime Time Wrestling Women’s Championship and the BestYa Wrestling Women’s Championship.
Following her victory, Moné shared an emotional moment with Strong, who had aspired to compete against Moné, widely recognized as “The CEO.” This achievement marked a significant milestone as Moné proudly displayed her extensive collection of championship belts, emulating the style of Japanese wrestling icon Ultimo Dragon.
Just two days prior, Moné retained the RevPro Undisputed British Women’s Championship in England by defeating Safire Reed, further adding to her championship accolades. Moné’s current repertoire of titles includes the AEW TBS Championship, the Queen of Southside Championship, the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament Championship, the CMLL World Women’s Championship, and the European Wrestling Association Women’s Championship, among others.
In an earlier WrestleZone interview, Diana Strong identified Moné as one of her dream opponents alongside other notable wrestlers such as Tay Melo, Killer Kelly, and Tessa Blanchard, underscoring Moné’s high standing in women’s wrestling globally.
AEW CEO Tony Khan Confirms Women’s Tag Titles Exist but Delay Introduction
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has confirmed the existence of women’s tag team championship belts, but AEW CEO Tony Khan stated that the timing is not yet right to introduce them on television. Although these AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships have been ready for over a year, a series of injuries within the women’s roster has caused hesitation in launching the division.
Speaking on WGN Radio, Khan explained the current challenges facing AEW’s women’s division, referencing the many injuries sustained during recent events such as the Women’s Casino Gauntlet. This tournament resulted in 25% of the participants being sidelined indefinitely, a significant setback to roster health and depth.
“I have a bunch of people I would like to get involved in a women’s tag team tournament, potentially,”
Khan said.
“There has been so much injury in the women’s division, and as the person who put together the Women’s Casino Gauntlet, I wish that we had come out of it healthier. A quarter of the people in the match got knocked out of the match and [are] out of action indefinitely. So we had one match where I lost 25% of the roster in one match, so that was pretty hard.”

“… I would like to do AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships,”
Khan added.
“To have that, I really think we do need to have a healthy division that can maintain these championships because we haven’t been able to sustain it. I do wanna have that… I have the belts. I’ve made the belts. They exist, but I will put them into play when we are able to put the very best full roster forward, to have great action with competition for all the championships, including new championships.”

Currently, several key figures in AEW’s women’s roster are recovering from injuries, including Mina Shirakawa, Jamie Hayter, Red Velvet, and Thunder Rosa. Hayter last appeared at AEW’s Double or Nothing event, while Velvet, who holds the ROH Women’s Television Championship, has been inactive since June. Shirakawa and Rosa most recently competed at the Women’s Casino Gauntlet during All In on July 12.
